Indian journalists roughed up in Lahore; unfortunate, says MEA

New Delhi, Feb 5 (PTI) Two Indian journalists were today roughed up and their belongings confiscated by suspected ISI agents in Lahore, prompting India to re-emphasise its month-old advisory that Pakistan is not safe for travel.Jujhar Singh, a correspondent with NewsX channel and cameraperson Tilak Raj, were working on a story related to the Mumbai attacks when some men waylaid them in Anarkali Bazar in Lahore at around 1.30 PM.
"It is indeed unfortunate that such an incident has taken place in Lahore," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash told reporters here.
He said Indian High Commission in Pakistan has already brought the matter to the attention of concerned authorities in Islamabad.
"The concerns which led to the travel advisory of December 26, 2008 still very much exist. Indian nationals are advised that it would be unsafe for them to travel to Pakistan," Prakash said.
Jhujhar and Tilak were roughed up and all their belongings, including camera, tapes, mobile phones and wallets were taken away by the men, who are suspected to be from Pakistan's intelligence, channel head Arup Ghosh told PTI.
A complaint has been lodged in Islamabad over the incident in which it was specified that the attack could not be the handiwork of common goons.PTI
