A heated argument took place between the auto driver and Deepak when he refused to pay Rs 12 instead of Rs 10 auto fare," he added.
Overcharged
Deepak's wife said, "The auto rickshaw driver overcharged us. He demanded Rs 12 but we paid only Rs 10, the reasonable fare following which a heated argument started between him and my husband.
"Nasty turn"
I was trying to resolve the issue but the driver took out a rod and hit on Deepak's head. He fell down and then the driver ran the auto over him in front of my eyes," she added.
Passed away
The auto driver then took Deepak to Kailash hospital, Deepak's family alleged. By the time Deepak was taken to the hospital in Sector 27 of Noida, he had passed away. Tripathi said, "We are investigating the whole matter. The body has been sent for the postmortem and the report is awaited."
Proper action
Meanwhile members of the Balmiki community, to which Deepak belonged, protested in front of Sector-20 Noida police station demanding proper action against the auto rickshaw driver.
