Cong, BJP indulging in politics of religion: Amar

Lucknow, Feb 18 (PTI) Continuing his tirade against Congress, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh today accused the UPA's lead party and BJP of indulging in the politics of religion.

"Both BJP and Congress involve themselves in the politics of religion", he said and claimed "it is only SP which believes in 'hum' (we) that unites Hindus with the Muslims".

On former BJP leader Kalyan Singh's joining hands with SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Amar Singh, who was addressing party workers here, said "it is Kalyan Singh who is now treading the path of Mulayam Singh Yadav and not vice-versa." Singh claimed Mulayam Singh Yadav "felt bad" that 15 seats were given to Congress in seat-sharing talks for Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradessh and said "he wanted that only 12 seats should have been given.

"I am in favour of alliance with Congress and this will help us in increasing the size of our family. But unfortunately, we have been deceived for most of the time", Amar Singh said.

Samajwadi Party state president Shivpal Singh Yadav asked SP workers to channelise all their energies to ensure that maximum number of party candidates win from the state so that the party can have a say in formation of the next government at the Centre. PTI
