Criminal lawyer held in Pehalwan murder case

By: Prawesh Lama
being on the trail for more than a month, the Delhi police have arrested a criminal lawyer of Karkardooma court, involved in the murder of local don turned politician Salim Pehalwan.
According to the police sources, Irshad Ali Khan (26) alias Wakil alias Guddu Chowdhary was arrested at Sarai Kale Khan on Sunday. Talking to MiD DAY, a police source said, "Since Irshad had been harassed and beaten up by Pehalwan's brother Naim Khan during a marriage in western Uttar Pradesh, he wanted to eliminate Naim and Pehalwan.
Being a criminal lawyer Khan was in constant touch with the criminals of that area as some of them were his clients. Meanwhile, he got in touch with Anwar Thakur's men."
He added that Khan went to meet Anwar Thakur in Tihar jail where the murder strategy was planned. Khan financed the murder.
After the crime, he fled from Delhi and visited various places in Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Pehalwan was also Anwar Thakur's rival gang head and had a property dispute with him.
"We produced Khan before the court and he has been sent to judicial custody," a source said.
The others involved in the murder case of Pehalwan had been arrested by the local and the special cell police of Delhi some weeks ago.
